Yes, I'm an Esalen work/scholar.  There are about three dozen of us, and we work about 32 hours/week in various departments (e.g. kitchen, grounds, garden, cabins, etc.).  And we do a monthlong workshop as a group.  I'm in Ellen Watson's "Movement" workshop, which is almost exclusively Dance so far.

My first choice was to be in the kitchen, but I got my second choice: Maintenance.  I was very sad to miss out on the social and musical aspects of the kitchen, but I soon found that Maintenance has a lot of nice advantages.

I am working with a great group of guys, all of them great characters.  And all day long I get to build or fix things (which can generate some very interesting real puzzles to solve!).

I work with interesting (& dangerous) tools.  One of my most fun projects so far was to create a couple dozen wooden numeral Ones:

I'm doing every non-dance movement class I can -- yoga almost every morning, and sometimes meditation too.

And this weekend (May 5-7, 2000), I did a Feldenkrais workshop with Anat Baniel, which was terrific!

As a consequence of the yoga, movement, Feldenkrais, meditation, good food, good company, and walking up and down all these hills, my body is feeling significantly better in just one week!
