On 10-14 July 1999, I sailed the Mediterranean with
20 or so other members of the Club Actuel, a
recreational club for active singles. We sailed on three boats
of about 10 meters in length, and visited a number
of islands and coastal splendors in the vicinity of Marseille,
including the Calanques, Cassis, La Ciotat, Les Isles Embliez,
and Les Frioles.
I made many new friends, and plan on visiting them soon.
Many of them come from Lyon, in the heart of France.

Here I am, wearing my "bob" and my beloved Cantona t-shirt
(Eric Cantona is a French football (soccer) star).

I'm at the tiller, with Mark and Sophie.

Here we are looking at the Chateau D'If.

Here's a more close up view. This is where the Count
of Monte Cristo was imprisoned, before he *escaped*!

Here we are eating one of the wonderful dinners which
we ate on the boats. Great food, great cooking.
I felt a bit like the character "Obelix" from the Asterix books:
my French friends seemed surprised by how much I ate.
When the food is good, it is only logical to eat more.

Here are Michelle and Michel. He was very, very, very funny.
Unfortunately he also spoke very very fast, and I usually
couldn't understand what he was saying.

Me, Sophie, and our capitaine Andre (very skillful, thank goodness).
Can you believe that he has *never* been seasick?!

Fabienne waves from one of the other boats.
Such a lovely image of La Belle France.
