    This company supplies all the materials for fun and interesting classes -- making slime, doing experiments,
    building pendulums and cars for physics experiments -- it is a joy to teach this way!

Another wonderful weekend with Karen.
  taking care of the animals -- Dixie loved being brushed [she practically melted] by Karen,
    Peyote the Pony escaped her pen and ate all the lettuce in the garden...
      a chicken died during the night (unknown cause), so
        after a brief ceremony by Karen, i buried the chicken in the forest.  Sunday 26 May 2002

I had a bust made by a sculptor on the promenade.

I taught my mom how to use the internet.

I invited my parents to Esalen for a couple of days, Tues July 25 - Thurs July 27.  How nice it was
to finally share with them the beauty and magic that is Esalen.

June/July 2000. Another work/scholar month at Esalen.

I made eight bookcases... and did a lot of yoga and Qi Gong.

i was in their Ph.D. program, but i had refused to do experiments that seemed to give trivially
important results, when i had a whole [constantly growing] world class library of knowledge available --
i instead favored library research, which was not respected by the Department.
So the M.S. degree was a compromise for a friendly parting of ways.  i called it my "booby prize".

In a tiny hotel room atop Rome, in the early morning hours of 29 June 1976,
i have an epiphany: i realize that biological aging is *the* limiting factor in my life, and
so i decide to research, understand, and hopefully cure aging.

i spend Spring Semester of my Sophomore year in Grenoble, France: Jan-June 1976
Thanks to a strong knowledge of French from St. Andrew's (Thank you, Mr. Ryan),
i become fluent in French.

i am the school's 13th Summa Cum Laude graduate.  SAS was founded in 1929.

i receive 800 on my Math SAT, and 780 on my Verbal; i always did have trouble with the verbal stuff.

i am on the varsity wrestling team for three years [107 lb; 125 lb; 140 lb weight classes].

After a long, educational, and enjoyable time in the Boy Scouts,
  including a bus trip across country to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico,
    i achieve the rank of Eagle Scout:  Approx. 1972

i leave the underachieving and troubled public school system for St. Andrew's School: 2 January 1970

i don't get to go to science camp.  This upsets me greatly, and i am in a funk for weeks.  Approx. 1967
